Where Hoppinger stands, and where we want to go
We are honest about where we stand. At this moment, Hoppinger is not yet an AI-native organization. Our platforms for business-critical processes in healthcare, housing, knowledge and education, and industry are built on a solid software foundation, with C#/.NET as an important cornerstone. For us, AI is already a tool to build things faster and better.
The ambition, however, is clear: we are growing toward an AI-first way of working, in which AI is not a standalone experiment but a manageable and scalable part of the platform. To take that step, we need people who already combine their technical experience and their curiosity about AI effectively in practice. You help make that transformation happen and help give it direction.
Your role: from business problem to working solution
You translate our clients' challenges into a technical solution and determine how AI is applied within their platforms. That is broader than choosing models: it is about designing a complete solution, from architecture to production. You stand with one foot in the code and the other at the whiteboard with our clients' management.
Your days are varied and include things like:
- Translating a business problem into a technical architecture
- Assessing which AI approach fits: agents, classic ML or a combination, and the trade-off between building, buying or calling an API
- Building along on solutions yourself, in an environment where C#/.NET and modern frameworks form the basis of our platforms
- Safeguarding the non-functionals: scalability, latency, cost, security and compliance
- Working on agentic systems: orchestration, tool use, human-in-the-loop patterns and more
- Working together with experience architects, engineers and data analysts, and leading both an architecture review with developers and a whiteboard session with a director
Who you are
You are first and foremost an experienced software engineer with a strong .NET background, who has grown into an architecture role. You have demonstrably built and shipped software, and you actively dig into what it takes to run AI reliably in production. You have already taken that last step, or you are seriously working on it.
You recognize yourself in this:
- Extensive experience in software development, with C#/.NET as a constant in your toolkit. For this role this is a hard requirement, not a plus
- Knowledge of software architecture: API design, microservices, event-driven architecture and containerization
- Experience with at least one hyperscaler (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud)
- Hands-on experience with LLMs and building AI applications. Production experience is a plus, a demonstrable and already active drive to grow further in this is a requirement
- Affinity with agentic development and the ambition to specialize in it
- The ability to explain technical choices to non-technical stakeholders, from product owner to C-level
- Relevant certifications (such as Azure Solutions Architect or AWS Solutions Architect) are a plus; demonstrable knowledge and experience weigh more heavily
